Kim Kardashian Divorce Jokes: The Best of Twitter

Questlove: “Wait, Kim Kardashian got married?”

Kim Kardashian's quickie divorce gave all of Twitter a target as huge as her famously ample [edited for obviousness].

"I'm not making any Kim Kardashian jokes today for the same reason I don't go out drinking on New Year's Eve," tweeted comedian Eli Braden, perfectly describing a day that felt like an amateur hour celebrity roast.

But a funny one. The speed and profitability of Kardashian's 72-day marriage yielded many a solid joke at her expense.

"@KimKardashian is getting divorced," tweeted for MTV "Real World" partipant Chet Cannon. "I've known that for 72 days."

Book publicist Kathleen Schmidt made light of Kardashian's statement saying she wanted the marriage to last forever. The wedding yielded an estimated $18 million in profits.

"The Kim Kardashian definition of 'forever' is 'when the check is cashed,'" said Schmidt, who tweets as @bookgirl96.

Added the anonymous@DarkSideIntern: "Kim Kardashian is divorcing. Sir MixALot plans to pull up quick to retrieve it."

Some jokes had a message.

"Kim Kardashian files for divorce after 72 days. Another example of how same-sex marriage is destroying the sanctity of the very institution," tweeted Geoge Takei.

The marriage was too short, apparently, for The Roots drummer Questlove to notice it: "Wait," he deadpanned. "Kim Kardashian got married?"

The marriage also inspired the hashtag "ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage," to which every response was seemingly a variation on one of three punchlines:

-The actual wedding

-Her sex tape with Ray J

-Taylor's Swifts VMA acceptance speech

Many looked forward to continued fun at Kardashian's expense.

Tweeted ad copywriter Jenne Raub: "I can't wait for E!'s obligatory Kim Kardashian 2-Hour Divorce Spectacular!"

One point of clarification: We would never make fun of a real marriage dissolving.

We'll leave it at that.
