Kimmel and Letterman Gang Up on Leno (video)

The two comics look back fondly on LateNightCrisis2010. “It was so much fun,” Dave says

Just when we were having LateNightCrisis2010 withdrawl symptoms, David Letterman has come to the rescue.

Turns out Jimmy Kimmel is the guest on tonight’s "Late Show" (see: the enemy of my enemy is my friend). They talk lots about the recent Troubles, natch.

"I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your role in the Jay Leno scandal," Letterman tells JK, adding that the weeks of piling on Jay and NBC "just got to be fun."

Kimmel let his killer instinct show, however.

"We were drowning (Leno) and you threw him a life preserver," Kimmel jokes to Letterman, referring to Dave’s healing Super Bowl ad with Oprah Winfrey.

Kimmel tells Dave he had fun pretending to be Leno because, "It’s easier." Letterman, meanwhile, said the whole thing reminded him of his early days in stand-up, when all the comics from Back in the Day (including Leno) would rag on each other on-stage.

"We were always insulting each other, and we couldn’t have had more fun," Letterman said.

As for the January drama, "The only one who got hurt (from it) was NBC. They lost hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars," he said.
