Kimmel’s Laptop, Not the Green Hornet, Saves the Night

Blackout at Jimmy Kimmel’s studio? No problem: Fire up the laptop, tape the segment

When dark forces descended on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," it was the host himself — not the Green Hornet — who saved the day.

With Seth Rogen on hand Monday to debut his trailer for "The Green Hornet," a power outage shut down the control room, transmission center and tape operations area an hour before taping.

But Kimmel didn't quit — he got all new-media on the situation.

With guests and studio audience waiting, Kimmel did not disappoint, deciding to go on with the show and record it on his laptop using his webcam.

Musical guest Dierks Bentley improvised with an acoustic performance from his new album "Up on the Ridge" (photo above, courtesy of CBS).

The show will be broadcast Tuesday night at 12:05 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
