‘King’s Speech’ Out on DVD and Blu-ray April 19

Release of Oscar frontrunner is first under Weinstein Company’s 25% ownership of Starz Media and multi-year distribution deal

 "The King's Speech" will be released on DVD on April 19, Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company announced Tuesday.

This is the first release under TWC's recently announced purchase of 25% of Starz Media and a multi-year domestic distribution agreement that sees Anchor Bay handling home entertainment and digital releases of up to 20 Weinstein Company and Dimension Films titles a year. 

The movie, widely considered the one of the top contenders for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year, won the Producer's Guild of America's top film award on Jan. 22.

Winning feature film ensemble cast award at this year's SAG Awards, "King's Speech" is also nominated for 12 Academy Awards. Colin Firth received a Golden Globe Award and a SAG Award for his portrayal of Britain's King George VI battle against his stutter.

Bonus features on the Blue-ray and DVD include commentary with director Tom Hooper, a 20-minute "Making of The King's Speech' feature and archival footage of King George VI.

Suggested retail price for the DVD is $29.98. Suggested retail price for the Blu-Ray is $39.99.
