Lana Del Rey Tour Postponed After ‘SNL’ Fiasco (Report) (Update)

Update: Rep denies newspaper report she was “very upset” by public reaction to her performance, prompting a postponement

(Update: A rep for Del Rey denies to TheWrap that a spring tour was canceled, saying one was never planned.)

Lana Del Rey's disastrous "Saturday Night Live" last month hit such a bum note that her handlers have postponed her upcoming tour in order to let the furor die down, the New York Post reports.

The "Video Games" singer's tour was intended to coincide with the release of her latest album, "Born to Die," which went on sale late in January, but a Post source says that Del Rey and her manager decided to hold off after the nearly unanimous negative reaction that her performance received.

“She was very upset [by the response],” the source told the newspaper. “They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from ‘SNL.'"

Del Rey's management denied the Post's report, telling TheWrap that a tour had never been confirmed.

The 30-date tour of 1,000 to 3,000-seat theaters was to begin as soon as March, according to the paper.

Del Rey's awkward, low-key performance of her single "Video Games" on "SNL" drew widespread scorn, with everyone from actresses Juliette Lewis and Eliza Dushku to NBC news anchor Brian Williams. Many thought the performance was a skit by "SNL" player Kristen Wiig. (It wasn't, but Wiig spoofed the singer during a segment on "SNL"'s Weekend Update on Saturday.)

Del Rey rushed to her own defense in a subsequent interview with Rolling Stone, telling the magazine, "I actually felt good about it. I thought I looked beautiful and sang fine."

The singer partially redeemed herself with a performance on "Late Show With David Letterman" last Thursday, pleasing Letterman so much that he asked her to return for a performance the next night.
