Stephen Frears is directing the John Hodge-scripted drama for Working Title
Working Title is producing the Studio Canal-funded movie, which screenwriter John Hodge (“Trance”) adapted from journalist David Walsh’s book “Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong.”
The film chronicles Armstrong’s rise to fame and fall from grace, including his Tour de France championships and battle with cancer. Walsh was among the integral figures who helped expose doping within professional cycling.
Pace’s role remains under wraps.
Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing with Kate Solomon and Frears’ longtime producing partner Tracey Seaward. Working Title’s Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger will executive produce.
Pace, who reprises his role as Thranduil in “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” recently co-starred in Steven Spielberg‘s “Lincoln.” The “Pushing Daisies” veteran will soon be seen as the villainous Ronan the Accuser in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Pace is represented by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Jodi Peikoff.
