Lance Bass’ KTLA Guest Host Stint Boosts Morning Show Ratings 20 Percent

The NSYNC alum filled in for Sam Rubin this week and viewers noticed

KTLA nabbed some winning ratings numbers during the week that Lance Bass guested as its entertainment host.

The ‘NSYNC alum filled in for KTLA’s resident entertainment host Sam Rubin from Monday through Thursday of this week, which gave the morning show a 20 percent bump in its target demographic of Adults 25-54 over last week’s ratings (1.2 versus 1.0).

“He did a great job,” KTLA’s news director Jason Ball told TheWrap. “He had done it once before, but this was the first time he did multiple days. He did a great job. I think he’s a great talent and a really nice guy.”

On Monday — Bass’s first day on the job — the KTLA morning news show earned a 1.4 rating in the 25-54 demo, almost three times that of “GMA” and “Today,” which both earned a 0.5 rating, in the Los Angeles area.

KTLA often beats the two network morning shows in that demo in L.A., Ball said.

Mr. Rubin, if you’re reading this, Bass isn’t interested in taking your job permanently. He has his hands full between his Sirius XM radio show “Dirty Pop,” his wedding series in development at E! and his Lifetime show “Celebrity Home Raiders,” which grew out of FamousYardSale.com, Bass’s site which gives stars a place to sell their belongings to benefit charities.

Plus, Ball isn’t about to let Rubin go.

“We would definitely offer Lance the opportunity of returning,” Ball said. “But, I don’t want Sam Rubin to think he’s out of a job. He’s our guy. He’s been here for a long time and will be here for much longer. But, Lance was great to have here for the week.”
