The Dalai Lama Tells Larry King That Same Sex Marriage Is ‘OK!’ (Video)

The Tibetan spiritual leader appears in an interview on “Larry King Now” airing March 10

Larry King sat down with the Dalai Lama in a rare interview to air on Ora.tv’s “Larry King Now” on March 10. The talk show icon pressed the Tibetan spiritual leader on his thoughts about gay rights.

His holiness revealed to King that he thought that same-sex marriage was “OK” and “an individual’s business.”

“What do you make of the whole emerging gay question? Russia banning homosexuality, in the United States, we now have growing gay marriage,” King observed. “What do you think?”

“That I think [is] a personal matter,” he said. “People who have belief or who have special traditions, then you should follow according to your own tradition. Like Buddhism, there are different kinds of sexual misconduct, so you should follow properly.”

The Dalai Lama also condemned the bullying of LGBT people.

“That is wrong,” he stressed. “That’s a violation of human rights.”

King asked the spiritual leader specifically about his views on same-sex marriage.

“That’s up to the country’s law,” he told King. “I think [it’s] OK! I think that’s an individual’s business. If two people… really feel that way, it’s more practical, satisfaction, and both sides fully agree, then OK!”

The full interview airs March 10 on Ora.tv, where he will disclose more of his predictions for future of Tibet and China.
