Ratings: Spielberg’s ‘Extant,’ NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ Season Finales Down Double Digits From Last Summer

Fox ties for first place in key demo with “Home Free” and “MasterChef”

NBC and Fox tied for first place in the key 18-49 demographic on Wednesday, as more shows came to their summer season finale. NBC had the most total viewers in primetime.

CBS’ “Extant” closed down 30 percent in the demo from 2014’s season finale; NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” finished 21 percent lower than last season’s ending episode.

The CW did well in the 8 p.m. hour: “America’s Next Top Model” earned its most-watched and highest-rated episode in more than two years. That said, the young-skewing network finished in last place on the night.

NBC and Fox tied for first in ratings, both with a 1.3 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. NBC finished first in total viewers with an average of 6 million, according to preliminary numbers; Fox was third with 4.2 million.

For NBC, “America’s Got Talent” at 8 posted a 1.8/7 and 9.3 million viewers. “Carmichael Show” at 9 dipped to a 1.0/4 and 4.7 million viewers. A second episode at 9:30 slid further to a 0.9/3 and 3.9 million viewers. “Last Comic Standing” at 10 received a 1.1/4 and 4.4 million viewers.

CBS was third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and second in viewers with 5.2 million. “Big Brother” at 8 earned a 2.1/8 and 6.5 million viewers. “Extant” at 9 had a 0.7/3 and 4.6 million viewers.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and fifth in viewers with 2.3 million.

ABC and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.7/3. ABC was fourth in total viewers with 2.9 million, airing just reruns. Telemundo was sixth in viewers with 1.7 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/1 and in viewers with 1.1 million. “Next Top Model” at 8 got a 0.6/2 and 1.4 million viewers. “A Wicked Offer” at 9 received a 0.2/1 and 717,000 viewers.
