Lauryn Hill has started her three-month prison sentence for tax evasion.
The Grammy-winning rapper surrendered herself at a minimum security federal prison Monday in Danbury, Conn., a spokesman for the Bureau of Prisons told TheWrap.

Hill pled guilty in 2012 to failing to pay more than $1.8 million in federal taxes. After being released from prison, Hill will serve three more months of house arrest and nine more months of supervised release.
Hill was one of the biggest musical acts of the 1990s, but she left the business and has remained out of the limelight for more than a decade. She was a member of the hip-hop group Fugees and became a solo artists of commercial and critical success with the 1998 release of "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."
