Sia provides the voice, while the “Girls” star provides the unusual visual performance
Sia gave a musical performance of her song, “Chandelier,” on “Late Night.” But that's all she did. But while Sia did nothing more than lie face-down on a loft bed, it was “Girls” star Lena Dunham who stepped in with an energetic visual performance.
Wearing a wig similar to the Australian singer's hairstyle, Dunham began by lip-syncing along with Sia's vocals, before settling just the performance aspect of her beautifully awkward dance. Complete with cardboard cutouts and toilet paper, it was a performance to be remembered.
The song is about a girl who's losing herself to a nightlife of drinking and partying. That's certainly what Dunham was doing throughout the number, albeit alone and in what appeared to be an approximation of a bedroom … with toilet paper attached to the bed.
By the end of the performance, though, Dunham had joined Sia in the bed and the two wound up spooning in relative safety and comfort together. Sia never once looked up to reveal her own face.
