Leonardo DiCaprio Does Not Fear Death in First Trailer for ‘The Revenant’ (Video)

The latest film from “Birdman” director Alejandro G. Iñárritu hit theaters Dec. 25

Leonardo DiCaprio does not fear death in the first trailer for “The Revenant” that New Regency and 20th Century Fox released on Friday.

Inspired by true events, the film follows explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) after he is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.

In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (“Birdman,” “Babel”) directed and co-wrote the the film with Mark L. Smith, which they adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name by Michael Punke. The film is unique in that it was shot using only natural light.

“The Revanant” opens in theaters December 25.
