Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese Team for ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’

“The Wolf of Wall Street,” which follows the rise and fall of a hard-partying stock-market player, will be Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese’s fifth feature-film collaboration

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are officially preparing to collaborate yet again.

The actor and the producer have both signed on for "The Wolf of Wall Street," based on the Jordan Belfort memoir of the same title. DiCaprio will play Belfort. Though news of the pair becoming attached to the project broke last year, Red Granite Pictures made it official with an announcement Thursday.

Red Granite Pictures' Riza Aziz and Joey McFarlane will serve as producers, along with DiCaprio, his Appian Way partner Jennifer Killoran, Scorsese, Emma Koskoff and Alexandra Milchan. Irwin Winkler and Georgia Kacandes are executive-producing.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" follows Belfort's rise and fall on Wall Street, a journey marked by a hard-partying lifestyle, and drug and alcohol addiction. Terrence Winter, whose credits include "The Sopranos" and "Boardwalk Empire," adapted the screenplay.

This will be DiCaprio and Scorsese's fifth feature film together. The pair's previous collaborations: "Gangs of New York," "The Departed," "The Aviator" and "Shutter island."

“Everything about this film plays to Martin Scorsese’s genius and visionary storytelling, Riza Aziz said of the project. “At its heart, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ is about the rise of new ‘modern’ gangsters in New York. Wall Street gangsters that redefined excess, greed and arrogance. We’re excited to see Mr. Scorsese take the reins of this visceral, tumultuous ride.”
