‘Les Miserables’ Parody Features Broadway Stars Urging Voters to Back Obama

"Les Miserables" song "One Day More" becomes "One Term More" in support of Obama

"Les Miserables" is expanding its already massive reach into the realm of politics, with  Broadway actors storming the barricades for Barack Obama and urging voters to support the president's re-election.

In a video parody, an impressive collection of musical theater talents, such as "The Light In The Piazza" actor David Burnham and "Beauty and the Beast" actress Kim Huber, are skewering Mitt Romney by aping the hit stage show.

Set to the song "One Day More," the new number is titled "One Term More" and overflows with digs at the Republican challenger, calling him "a bleak choice at the ballot box." It skewers Romney's political positions on issues like the Detroit auto bailout, as well as the GOP's stances on the latest wave of culture wars.

"Contraception's now a sin, screwing G.M. in the clutch," the lyrics read. "Incivility's a virtue. Homophobic. Out of touch. Filibusters. Budget scrums. Ultrasounds & speculums. To the Dark Side they've succumbed."

The Broadway musical, by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, won the 1987 Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. It has since been translated into 21 different languages and has played in more than 300 cities around the world.

"One Term More" is unlikely to set many feet tapping in red states, but in a liberal bastion like "The Great White Way," it should find a receptive audience.
