Hometown kids made good Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman“) and Mark McGrath (“Sharknado 2: The Second One”) have been named the first-ever Grand Marshals of the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The Newport Beach natives will attend the 106th annual event’s opening night on Dec. 17. The parade runs five consecutive nights.

“We are incredibly honored to have Leslie Mann and Mark McGrath as Grand Marshals for this year’s parade,” said Gary Sherwin, Newport Beach & Company president and CEO. “It has been thrilling to watch both of their successful careers throughout the years and how wonderful to have them back in their hometown at the holidays. The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade embodies the spirit of generosity, kindness and a true passion and love for community akin to Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol.’”

The boat parade occurs in conjunction with Newport Beach’s Ring of Lights home decorating competition. The contest sees homes and businesses surrounding the harbor decorated for the season with everything from lights to roof-top animated scenes to dancing Christmas trees.

The theme for the 2014 Christmas Boat Parade is “Deck the Hulls with Bows of Jolly.” Sponsors of both events include the City of Newport Beach, Visit Newport Beach Inc., Simple Green and Meguiar’s.
