Liam Neeson Takes Over Mel Gibson’s Cameo in ‘Hangover 2’

Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms star in Todd Phillips’ sequel

Liam Neeson will replace Mel Gibson in a cameo as a tattoo artist in "The Hangover 2," reports Variety.

Neeson said he was brought into the fold of the Warner Bros. sequel by its star Bradley Cooper, who recently shared the screen with Neeson in "The A-Team."

Neeson said he has been a fan of the first film since he caught it on a hotel TV when he was shooting a movie in Berlin earlier this year.

Neeson flew from his home in New York to Los Angeles on Thursday to film the cameo.

While Neeson is an excellent actor, this cameo leaves much to be desired. Neeson is already over-exposed as it is, and I'm not sure his cameo will add much to "The Hangover 2."

Mike Tyson's cameo in the original surprised audiences precisely because they weren't familiar with him as an actor, and Gibson's cameo in the sequel would've been a talking point because of the recent controversy surrounding the actor. I'm just not sure what Neeson is bringing to the table here.

Neeson recently filmed part of his role as the Admiral in Universal's "Battleship." He'll start filming Joe Carnahan's "The Gray" in January, when WB will release his next film, the stolen identity thriller "Unknown."
