The independent movie will make its festival premiere and theatrical release in late 2014-early 2015
Lifetime Films and A+E Studios have signed on as producers for the independent film, “Lila and Eve,” TheWrap has learned.
The companies will produce alongside Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions and Sara Risher’s ChickFlicks. Rob Sharenow, Tanya Lopez, Lisa Hamilton Daly and Molly Thompson will executive produce for A+E Studios. Darrin Reed and Damian Ganczewski also serve as executive producers.
Davis will also star alongside Jennifer Lopez in the indie film as grief-stricken mothers plotting to avenge the deaths of their children who were killed in a drive-by shooting.
As TheWrap exclusively reported, “Go for Sisters” star Yolonda Ross will co-star as a member of a “Mothers of Lost Children” support group, which helps women who have lost children to violence.
It will also star Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “Boardwalk Empire”)as Detective Holliston, who is investigating Lila and Eve’s crimes.
Written by Pat Gilfillan, Charles Stone III (“Drumline”) is directing the drama, which will make its festival premiere and theatrical release in late 2014-early 2015. Presumably, it will make its television debut on Lifetime.
Lifetime Films, a division of A+E studios, develops, produces and acquires female-focused independent movies, such as “The Last of Robin Hood” starring Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon and Dakota Fanning.
