Rumor Quashed: Lily Collins’ Eyebrows Didn’t Win Her ‘Snow White’

Director Tarsem Singh was joking when he said he chose the actress for her eyebrows

Lily Collins has perfectly nice eyebrows — but she's no Groucho Marx. Or even Brooke Sheilds.

Despite internet rumors, the young actress' eyebrows are not what got her a role co-starring with Oscar winner Julia Roberts and "Social Network" actor Armie Hammer in Relativity Media's upcoming "Snow White" movie, TheWrap has learned.

The eyebrow rumor started when director Tarsem Singh attempted a joke on Saturday.

People magazine accurately quoted the director like this:

"I saw her eyebrows, and I said, 'You're it,' " the director tells People, joking. "When I first saw her [for Snow White], I think she was trying for the part, but when I saw her I just said, 'She doesn't even have to try at all.'"

The key word there is "joking."

Other outlets picked up Singh's comments, but took him seriously.

Indie Wire, for instance, ran the headline, "Tarsem Singh Says Lily Collins’ Eyebrows Won Her The Part Of Snow White."

Assignment X reported this: "Surprisingly hiring her had nothing to do with her audition, but rather a facial feature."

It's not true, Relativity says.

"The eybrow remark was a joke and taken completely out of context," a Relativity spokesman told TheWrap Sunday. "Lily Collins was cast for her amazing talent, plain and simple."

Many of Hollywood's best young actresses wanted the role, which Collins (right, with normal eyebrows) received on Friday. We're told she nailed the audition and, very soon after, got the part.

Incidentally, have you seen her forehead?
