Desmond Harrington, who plays Casey Rooks on the CBS drama “Limitless,” says that fans should get ready for an unsettling ending to the show’s fall finale.

“I believe that the ending of this episode reveals a lot about the NZT and it shows a darker side to it and what the repercussions of that are,” Harrington told TheWrap.

In the episode, Rooks and other members of his SWAT team skim 80 NZT pills after they recover them from a stolen stash.  It starts an internal investigation that is viewed through the shifting perspectives of Brian (Jake McDorman) and his immediate circle at the FBI.

But Harrington insists he would never take NZT himself. “Honestly, I’ve thought about NZT and it would probably be the worst drug ever,” he said. “People have said how great it would be to have access that much of our brain, but most likely you would just go insane. It sounds like the worst acid trip of all time.”

Joining the show also gave Harrington the chance to reconnect with his former “Dexter” co-star, Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Agent Rebecca Harris. According to him, Carpenter personally asked him to join the series.

“I remember I had gotten off a plane and she had called me a few times and said, ‘There’s a role on “Limitless.” Would  you be interested in doing it?’ It’s one of those things where you rarely get to work again with people you’ve spent that much time with,” he said. “It was awesome.”

The fall finale of “Limitless” airs on CBS Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 10 p.m. EST.
