Lindsay Lohan Drops Her Last Name

The troubled “Mean Girls” actress became a little less Lohan today

What's in a name? For Lindsay Lohan, who has come to the questionable decision to shed half of hers, not as much as there used to be.

On Friday, Popeater.com disclosed that the beleaguered bombshell will answer only to one word going forward: Lindsay. This revelation sprung from an interview with the actress's mother, Dina Lohan.

"Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay," said the "Parent Trap" star's mom.

The timing may have something to do with Lindsay's father, Michael Lohan, being charged with assaulting his girlfriend earlier this week, yet another offense in a string of legal issues.

It also comes on the same day that Perez Hilton hints that the actress may be interested in doing a cameo on AMC's hit zombie series "The Walking Dead."

Dina Lohan, who divorced Michael in 2007, also revealed that she, too, will be dropping the Lohan moniker but that, unlike her elder daughter, will officially be replacing it with Sullivan, her maiden name. Lindsay's younger sister, Ali, also an actor and singer, will henceforth go by Ali Sullivan.

Lindsay's choice to not to take her mother's last name and instead brand herself with a mononame puts her in a small company of instantly recognizable artists who have done the same, including pop divas Cher, Madonna and Bjork.

But given the bad-girl image the former Lohan can't seem to shake, this new development might put her more in line with someone like Snooki.
