Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard Recreate ‘Hard Out Here for a Pimp’ on Next ‘Lip Sync Battle’ (Video)

“Empire” stars pay homage to “Hustle & Flow” on Thursday’s episode of Spike TV hit

“Empire” stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard are switching things up on the next “Lip Sync Battle” by performing a duet in addition to their battle. And no song is more fitting than Three 6 Mafia’s “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”

The rap song won the Best Original Song Oscar in 2006 after being written for “Hustle & Flow,” a drama starring both Henson and Howard, who was also nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a Memphis pimp aspiring to become a hip-hop artist.

Spike TV release a sneak peek of their rendition on Monday following previews of Henson’s performance of Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine,” and Howard’s take on The Commodores “Brick House.”

“Lip Sync Battle,” co-hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, is produced by John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, Casey Patterson, Jay Peterson and Rick Schwartz. Beth McCarthy-Miller of “Saturday Night Live” serves as director.

“Lip Sync Battle” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on Spike.
