Lisa Edelstein Won’t Return to ‘House’

Actress, who played hospital administrative chief Lisa Cuddy, cites “new opportunities in acting and producing” in announcing her decision to leave hit show

It's official: Lisa Edelstein is abandoning "House."

The actress, who's played Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the hit Fox series since 2004, announced on Tuesday that she's "moving onward" from the series — though she admits that it wasn't an easy decision.

"After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead," Edelstein said in a statement.

Edelstein won a People's Choice Award for best drama actress in a TV series earlier this year for her portrayal of Cuddy, who has served as both a foil and love interest for the series' main character, Gregory House.

The series was recently picked up by Fox for an eighth season.
