‘Louie’ Sets Return Date After 19-Month Hiatus

Hit FX comedy returns for season four with back-to-back new episodes

FX has set May 5 for the return of hit Louis C.K. comedy “Louie” after a 19-month hiatus, the network said Thursday.

“Louie” will debut at 10 p.m. ET/PT with back-to-back new episodes, and run two new episodes per week for a seven-week run.

FX CEO John Landgraf said the long 19-month gap gave show creator and star Louis C.K. time to develop the fourth season — and deliver a bonus 14th episode.

“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because – even though ‘Louie’ was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America – he needed to make it even better,’ Landgraf said in a statement.

“Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”

The Emmy-winning series is executive produced by Louis C.K., M. Blair Breard and Dave Becky.
