‘Point Break’ Remake Gets New Trailer: Luke Bracey Surfs, Skydives and Blows Stuff Up (Video)

Action flick based on director Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 movie of the same name blasts into theaters on Christmas Day

Luke Bracey infiltrates a team of extreme athletes whom he thinks are masterminding “The Ozaki Eight,” a series of corporate heists, in the new trailer for “Point Break.”

The film is a remake of the classic Kathryn Bigelow 1991 actioner, which starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.

The action film directed by Ericson Core has Bracey playing Johnny Utah, originally portrayed by Reeves, and Edgar Ramirez as philosopher-antagonist Bodhi, memorably played by Swayze in the original. The remake also stars Teresa Palmer.

The new film moves from the Southern California surf scene and goes international, with the first trailer teasing such extreme stunts as a skydiving bank heist, as well as action sequences involving snowboarding, base jumping and mountain climbing — all in the name of disrupting the international financial market.

“They are attempting something called ‘The Ozaki Eight’ — a series of eight ordeals that honor the forces of nature,” Utah tells his FBI instructor.

“So this is about enlightenment?”

“Exactly,” says Utah.

Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove produced the film along with John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer, who also wrote the screenplay. RGM Media principal Devesh Chetty and investor John McMurrick, chairman of Marloss Entertainment, served as executive producers.

The new “Point Break” will be released via Warner Bros. on Christmas Day, December 25.
