No matter what was going on during Sunday's award show, all eyes were on the “12 Years a Slave” actress

Lupita Nyong'o couldn't help it: She was the most captivating person at Sunday's Oscars show.

It isn't hard to imagine how the 31-year-old Kenyan native beat out a thousand or so actresses for the role of Patsey in Steve McQueen‘s “12 Years a Slave.” Her presence is undeniable.

All through Sunday's awards show, it didn't matter what was going on on-stage, because the Best Supporting Actress winner just commanded our attention.

Here are five ways Nyong'o stole the Oscars on Sunday.

1. Just arrive.
Even though the show hadn't even started yet, social media went nuts over Nyong'o way earlier in the night. For what? She simply stepped out of her car.

2. Rule the red carpet.
Nyong'o has been topping the best-dressed list this entire awards season and of course she didn't disappoint on Oscar night. Wearing a light blue Prada, Nyong'o topped it with a diamond-studded headband. Not only did she have her fans going nuts, she won her peers’ approval too.

3. Do a little shimmy.
Although Pharrell Williams danced with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams while performing “Happy,” neither of them gave it the energy and enthusiasm Nyong'o gave it.

4. Be willing to share the spotlight.
The question everyone was asking after host Ellen DeGeneres posted her record-breaking star-studded selfie was, “Who's that guy next to Bradley Cooper?” That is Luongo's date, her brother Peter. So, stealing the show is genetic?

5. Make the night's best acceptance speech.
Winning was a given for many, but her speech took the cake. Nyong'o thanked everyone she needed to praise in her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress. But, she also delivered one of the most touching messages of the evening: “No matter where you're from, your dreams are valid.”

When they plucked her out of the jungle in africa, someone should have told her that she needs to wax her mustache and shave under her arms. It is amazing how all the media twits and all the twits in hollywood are falling all over themselves for this black nobody. She does NOT have a presence, she is NOT beautiful in any way, shape, or form, she is not poised, she is not classy, she is NOT the “queen of the red carpet” and she is not talented. She showed up at the oscars with a headband around her nappy hair, but it was described as ‘elegant'. Talk about placating her. If a white actress showed up like that, she would be slammed until the oscars next year. She is downright ugly and manly, and nothing she wears can ever look good on her. She is a big, very dark black mess. She was given an award because she is black, and she was in a movie that HAD to be picked for best picture–because it is full of blacks and deals with a black issue, because if it wasn't, there would be endless cries of racism and exclusion. It really is true that blacks, gays, and hispanics run this country, and society placates them, caters to them, and arranges everything around them and what they want. Whites and anyone with any sense, morals and dignity are truly the minority. God help us all.

Wow who pooped in your cereal. It is ok if you don't think she is beautiful but you just went out of your way to write a whole lot of crap that won't take anything away from her.
      Have a good day.

I'm surprised at how much you hate yourself! i pity you and oh she's a senators daughter that went to Yale, Something you might never know anything about. Not everyone is as primitive as you so speak for yourself! we looooooove Lupita!

    • Vanessa

Wow. I had plans today, but instead I'm going to pray for you. Who spends time devoting their energy toward hating others with such passion. Maybe if you spent your energy honing your talents instead of convincing yourself that hardworking minorities are just getting a pass so you can sleep at night you would be a much happier person.

Senator's daughter. Yale graduate. Oscar winner. Beautiful. Eloquent.

Ps. Always remember haters are confused admirers

LMAO. You are a true idiot. Nothing you wrote is based on anything valid. You are so jealous of this human being and her success. Perhaps you should get off of your tired arse and do something so that your point for breathing is legitmate

How sad and horrible your life must be :(

stopkidding Lupita has greater breeding than most of you. Her father was a government minister and before then a university Professor. She has a university degree and she went to Yale. Few people go there, even white people. So, all in all, you only expressed your ignorance and hate. I think she put you all racists to shame. I hope she wins another one in a film full of whites. She should thank her publicist. Do you remember Lady Gaga? Sophia Vegara? Hollywood had passing fancies and for now it is Lupita's turn. She is eloquent, educated, beautiful, physically fit and there is nothing you can do Stopkidding. If you think Africa is still a jungle, you must a poor, uneducated white person. African has taken long strides. We are Black and beautiful and we will remain that way as the old white race staggers to extinction. A new white race will be born out of those bi-racial children and thank God they will not be haters like you.
