Netflix Pays a Premium to Stream ‘Mad Men’ Reruns

The online video service will fork over about $1 million per episode to Lionsgate TV

Netflix is paying big to stream older episodes of "Mad Men."

The online service will pay Lionsgate TV around $1 million per episode of AMC's period drama. There are 13 episodes per season; the series is expected to run seven seasons.

The deal kicks in for viewers around mid-July. Netflix subscribers will be able to stream the first four seasons of the drama about an advertising agency in the 1960s. After the last episode of the fifth season finishes airing next year, viewers will be able to stream that season on Netflix.

The same thing will happen for the sixth and seventh seasons.

The Emmy winning show's creator, Matthew Weiner, said last week that the series will run seven seasons.
