Made in Hollywood Awards Expands to Include Emmy-Nominated TV Productions

The move comes amid city efforts to goose declining local productions

The Made in Hollywood Awards is expanding to include primetime television series produced in the Los Angeles area, L.A. City Council member Tom LaBonge announced on Wednesday.

Emmy nominees in the Television Academy's nine primetime production categories — Comedy Series, Drama Series, Mini-Series or Movie, Variety Series, Variety Special, Children’s Program, Informational Series or Special, Reality Program and Reality Competition Program — that were made locally will qualify for the awards.

The ceremony will take place Aug. 15 at the Heart of Hollywood Terrace atop the 1600 Vine Building.

The expansion comes amid city efforts to goose Hollywood productions; FilmL.A. recently reported that TV drama filming is 12 percent under its five-year average

"This award program honors filmmakers and production entities who elect to utilize the unlimited talent pool, the reservoir of unsurpassed crafts people and the world’s greatest complex of film production facilities and infrastructure that is Hollywood," LaBonge said. "Hollywood is the world capital of filmed entertainment because it remains the most concerted community of artistic and technical excellence."
