A man armed with a gun was detained outside of a North Hollywood location where Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to appear on Wednesday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman told TheWrap.
The LAPD added that the man was awaiting booking, after which more information will be available.
KTLA reports that the unidentified suspect was entering the area when a police dog detected a loaded firearm in his car.
According to CBS’s Los Angeles affiliate, Biden is scheduled to appear with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti at Bobrick Washroom Equipment in North Hollywood to stump for a minimum wage increase.
The White House said that Biden “will highlight the importance of increasing the minimum wage to give anyone who works hard every day the chance to earn a livable wage and get on a pathway to the middle class.”
Biden is also expected to discuss “expanding the availability of overtime protections to make sure that millions of middle-class Americans are getting the extra pay they have earned.”
