March Madness Scores Best First-Thursday Ratings in 20 Years

CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV combine for a 5.7/13, up 24 percent from CBS’ coverage last year

CBS, TBS, TNT and Tru TV's March Madness coverage was the highest-rated first Thursday since 1991, Turner said Friday, citing Nielsen numbers.

The networks combined for an overnight household rating/share of 5.7/13, up 24 percent from a 4.6/11 for CBS Sports’ 2010 coverage of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.

The 5.7/13 was the best first-Thursday rating in metered markets since 1991, when the tournament expanded to four telecast windows throughout the day.
