Mark Burnett Signs On to Produce People’s Choice Awards

Show moving to Nokia Theater, with Queen Latifah returning as host.

"Survivor" producer Mark Burnett has signed on to exec produce January’s 36th annual People’s Choice Awards, CBS announced Thursday.

Queen Latifah has also agreed to return for her fourth year as host. And the show, to air Jan. 6, is moving to LA’s Nokia Theater.

Burnett has been expanding into awards producing in recent years. He’s produced two installments of MTV’s Movie Awards.

"The PCA is a terrific franchise but more importantly, an essential voice for the people," Burnett said. "I look forward to producing a show that not only celebrates and honors all the favorite movies, music and television of 2009, but creates some of the very first buzz-worthy moments of 2010."

Fred Nelson, president of the PCA, said Burnett’s "out-of-the-box vision and experience in awards show production make him the perfect choice to reinvigorate the ‘People’s Choice Awards,’ and combining his creativity with Queen Latifah’s presence ensures that we deliver the type of show the fans truly want and deserve."
