Mark Gordon Comedy 'Fifth Wheel' Rolls Into NBC

Ensemble show will revolve around a girl learning to deal with being the only single person in her group of friends

Mark Gordon has rolled into a new deal with NBC.

NBC has entered a script deal with Gordon (“Criminal Minds,” “Grey's Anatomy”) for a new comedy, “Fifth Wheel,” which Gordon will will executive produce.

The project is a 20-something ensemble show about a girl learning to deal with being the only single person in her group of friends.

“Shit People Say in LA” duo Heidi Niedermeyer and Elana Crevello are writing the project.

Andrea Shay (“Family Tools”) will also executive produce for The Mark Gordon Company.

    The “single guy/girl with married friends” story has been a subplot for many sitcoms over the years with at least one of the couples as the main characters. To reverse this formula could either be hilarious or disastrous depending on whether we should “root for her” or “feel sorry for her.” Need more info to go on before “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” is discussed.
