First Trailer for ‘Marvel’s The Punisher’ Features a Whole Lot of Guns (Video)

Castle (Jon Bernthal) has a huge axe to grind

We’re not surprised that Frank Castle got violent in the first full trailer for “Marvel’s The Punisher,” which was posted online Wednesday.

The trailer starts off fairly quietly, with scenes of Castle (Jon Bernthal), a guitar and his family. Of course, if you know anything about the Punisher — or watched “Daredevil” Season 2 — you know this idyllic life doesn’t last long.

In his first standalone series, Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than just New York’s criminal underworld. According to the trailer, it includes the FBI, the CIA and Homeland Security.

An unnamed “they” are the ones who killed his family in order to get to him. And now he’s out to kill them all.

The Netflix Marvel series doesn’t hold back in terms of its violence, which is apt for a “Punisher” installment. There are plenty of guns, shots of people firing guns, car chases, explosions and, since it’s become Marvel tradition now, a stairwell fight.

Netflix and Marvel have been coy with “Punisher” marketing material up to this point. So far, the series has been teased in small 30-second clips and mysterious documents with redacted details.

The series also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Michael Nathanson, Jaime Ray Newman, Jason R Moore, Daniel Webber (11.22.63) and Paul Schulze.

“The Punisher” will debut on Netflix sometime this year.
