Ratings: Disappointing ‘Agent Carter’ Premiere Places ABC in Fifth

CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” preview also can’t do much damage at 9 o’clock

Tuesday was not a heroic night for Marvel or DC. ABC’s “Agent Carter” returned for a weak season premiere, while “Legends of Tomorrow” couldn’t do much with a 9 p.m. ET preview over on the CW.

ABC finished fifth in the key 18-49 demographic but managed a better third place among total viewers. “Agent Carter,” which was pushed back a week due to President Obama’s final State of the Union Address, settled for a series low.

The CW was actually third in the demo, thanks to “The Flash,” and finished fourth in overall eyeballs. Its half-hour snapshot of the upcoming “Legends” featured interviews with producers and clips that introduced characters.

CBS finished first in primetime per both Nielsen metrics.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.8 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 12.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m. ET, “NCIS” scored a 2.4/8 and 17.4 million viewers. An hour later, “NCIS: New Orleans” earned a 1.8/6 and 13.2 million viewers. At 10, “Limitless” had a 1.2/4 and 6.4 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.5/5 and in viewers with 6.6 million. “Hollywood Game Night” at 8 p.m. ET got a 1.2/4 and 4.6 million viewers. At 9, “Chicago Med” received a 1.6/5 and 7 million viewers. At 10, “Chicago Fire” posted a 1.7/6 and 8 million viewers.

The CW was third in ratings with a 1.1/3 and fourth in viewers with 2.7 million. At 8 p.m. ET, “The Flash” earned a 1.3/4 and 3.4 million viewers. At 9, the “Legends of Tomorrow” preview received a 0.9/3 and 2.1 million viewers. At 9:30, “DC Films Presents: Dawn of Justice” managed a 0.8/3 and 1.8 million viewers.

Fox was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and fifth in viewers with 2.5 million. “New Girl” at 8 p.m. ET had a 1.3/4 and 3 million viewers. At 8:30, “Grandfathered” got a 0.9/3 and 2.6 million viewers. At 9, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” received a 1.1/3 and 2.4 million viewers. “The Grinder” at 9:30 posted a 0.8/2 and 2 million viewers.

ABC was fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 but third in viewers with 3.2 million. At 8 p.m. ET, special “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years” had a 0.9/3 and 3.2 million viewers. At 9, the first hour of “Agent Carter” got a 1.0/3 and 3.3 million viewers. At 10, the second hour received a 0.9/3 and 3 million viewers.

Telemundo and Univision tied for sixth in ratings, both with a 0.7/2. Telemundo edged Univision in viewers, with 1.83 million. Univision settled for seventh with 1.82 million total viewers.
