The stars of “The Martian” set the style bar to intergalactic on Thursday at the London premiere of Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi drama.

Matt DamonJessica Chastain, Kristen WiigKate Mara, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sean Bean all attended the out-of-this-world event at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, England.

Redheaded Chastain dazzled in a Elie Saab Couture gown, while Wiig opted for a short floral dress by Valentino and Mara went strapless in Dior.

The film, based on the best-selling 2011 novel by Andy Weir, stars Damon as Mark Watney, a NASA astronaut with a sharp sense of humor despite being accidentally stranded on Mars by his crew when they assume he was killed during a violent dust storm.

Much of the film and the original book features Damon’s efforts to survive — from growing potatoes in the crew’s Martian habitat to trekking across the remote planet’s barren surface — while a NASA team back on Earth struggles to come up with a solution to “bring him home.”

Chastain, Mara, and Michael Pena are among Watney’s fellow astronauts, while the crew on the ground includes Bean, Ejiofor, Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover and Mackenzie Davis.

“The Martian” earned immense praise when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was described as a “love letter to science,” by TheWrap‘s Steve Pond.

Scott, renowned for his futuristic ventures such as “Blade Runner” and “Alien,” directs and produces. Drew Goddard wrote the screenplay, based on Weir’s novel.

“The Martian,” a Scott Free production from 20th Century Fox, lands in theaters on Friday, Oct. 2.
