Conservative powerhouse is not happy

Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge called out Republicans on Tuesday who he said had “lied about wanting tax cuts.”

“BTW, Republicans lied about wanting tax cuts,” Drudge tweeted. “Can we get our votes back?”

Drudge also slammed the National Weather Service’s handling of Winter Storm Stella, which proved to be less severe than expected.

“Trump should clear out climate hysterics from NWS,” Drudge tweeted on Tuesday. “All storms grossly exaggerated. National Guard called for 3 inches? JFK closed? Laughable.”

Drudge’s site, visited by million every month, yields enormous influence over the Republican Party’s conservative base. Drudge can put issues on politicians’ radar screens — or fire up voters — simply by linking to stories about them. His Twitter posts Tuesday, to 490,000 followers, offered more direct looks into his personal views.

Conservative sites quickly took note of Drudge’s scolding of Republicans he believes are not pushing hard enough for tax cuts. NewsMax reported that Drudge tweeted last month that Republicans should be “sued for fraud” for not discussing tax cuts.

That tweet was missing from Drudge’s Twitter feed on Tuesday — as were all previous tweets. Only three from Tuesday remained: the one about taxes, and two about the National Weather Service.
