Netflix released the first teaser for “Disenchantment,” its upcoming animated series from “Simpsons” and “Futurama” creator Matt Groening.
The series premieres Aug. 17.
The series takes place in a crumbling medieval kingdom called Dreamland and will follow the lives of a princess with a drinking problem named Bean, an elf companion named Elfo and her personal demon Luci.
The brief video features a voiceover referencing Groening’s previous works, noting that the past was the “obvious third move” for Groening. The teaser also introduces us to Bean, who will be voiced by “Broad City’s” Abbi Jacobson.
“Disenchantment” also features Nat Faxon as Elfo and Eric Andre as Luci. A staple of voice actors from Groening’s past works will also be lending their voices. This list includes John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.
The series is animated by Rough Draft Studios, the same company behind “Futurama,” and you can definitely see the resemblance.
“Disenchantment” is produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, with Groening and Josh Weinstein serving as executive producers.
