Broderick will play Jack, a recently widowed father who raises his 12-year-old son while jumping back into the dating pool.

Quill is writing and executive-producing the as-yet-untitled, multi-camera pilot.

CBS Television Studios is producing.

Should the project go to series, this would mark Broderick's first regular run on television. He has guest-starred on a number of series, appearing in recent years on "30 Rock," "Louie" and "Modern Family."

Deadline first reported the news of Broderick's casting.
