McG in Talks to Direct ‘Ouija’ for Universal & Hasbro

Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (“Tron: Legacy”) wrote the supernatural action-adventure movie

McG is in talks to direct "Ouija" for Universal Pictures, the studio has confirmed to TheWrap.

Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis wrote the script for the supernatural action-adventure movie, and while they were (partially) responsible for the mess that was "Tron: Legacy," they've also written for "Lost," so they've earned the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I've heard that the "Ouija" script is much better than expected and the film could deliver some serious chills when it's released on Nov. 12, 2012.

"Ouija" is the second Hasbro property to make its way to the big screen, as Peter Berg's sci-fi take on "Battleship" is scheduled for release on May 18, 2012. Rob Letterman was supposed to direct "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner in "Stretch Armstrong," but that Universal-Hasbro project was pushed back, making way for "Ouija."

Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir will produce "Ouija" with Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, and the film is expected to start production sometime before this summer, as McG is currently in post-production on 20th Century Fox's action comedy "This Means War."

"Ouija" itself has sold over 12 million copies since Parker Bros. debuted the game in 1966, and Hasbro acquired the property in 1991.

McG is represented by WME and Management 360.
