The 20-year veteran of the company has helped grow the division into a billion-dollar business
Lionsgate has been promoted Ron Schwartz to president of home entertainment, the company announced Wednesday.
The division is a $1 billion-a-year operation that has earned a 10 percent market share from the strong home-entertainment releases of "Hunger Games" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1" — two of the top three in 2012, Lionsgate said.
"Ron is a gifted and experienced executive who has helped guide our home entertainment business to several years of sustained and profitable growth," Lionsgate Co-Chief Operating Officer and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks said in a statement. "He has a keen grasp of the direction in which our business is heading, and he is ideally qualified to position Lionsgate as a global leader and innovator in delivering content to the full spectrum of home entertainment platforms."
During Schwartz's tenure, Lionsgate's 15,000-title library has experienced eight consecutive years of revenue growth.
Prior to the promotion Schwartz served as executive vice president and general manager of the same division. He is a 20-year veteran of Lionsgate and its predecessor companies.
