Netflix has officially launched its streaming video service in the U.K. and Ireland, with subscribers being charged 5.99 pounds in the U.K. and 6.99 euros in Ireland.
Viewers in the new markets can also sign up for a one-month free trial, during which they'll have access to "a wide array of Hollywood, local and global TV programmes and films on their TVs via a range of internet-connected devices capable of streaming from Netflix, including Smart TVs, game consoles, Blu-ray players, tablets and mobile phones."
All3Media, the BBC, CBS, Channel 4's 4oD, Disney UK & Ireland, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International Media Networks are the companies offering programming for the launch.

Among the movies and TV shows Netflix cites in its release as available for new Netflix U.K. and Ireland users: "The Expendables," "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," "The Men Who Stare at Goats," "Breaking Bad," "24," "90210," "Torchwood" and "Top Gear."
Netflix currently has more than 20 million streaming members in 47 countries and territories, according to a company release.
