The Walt Disney Company has acquired Togetherville, "the safe social network for kids."

Terms of the deal, first reported by TechCrunch, were not disclosed.

Togetherville, which is aimed at kids betweent the ages of 6 and 10, bills itself as an "online neighborhood for kids and their grownups," and uses parents' Facebook pages to validate their identity before allowing them to create accounts for their children.

Parents approve all friend requests, and Togetherville promises that "your child never enters Facebook."

For Disney, it's part of a growth-by-acquisition strategy for its digital group. Last year, the Disney bought Playdom, a social gaming company, and Tapulous, for mobile games.
