ESPN: 4.9B Minutes Spent on World Cup Digital Content

An average of 110,000 fans per minute viewed ESPN Digital Media over the 31-day event

The 2010 FIFA World Cup wow numbers continue to roll in. ESPN is reporting that users racked up 4.9 billion minutes of ESPN's digital content during the 31 days of the tournament.

In what ESPN described as "an extraordinary month," the channel's digital platforms — including ESPN.com, ESPN3.com, ESPN Mobile Web, ESPN Mobile Apps and ESPN Mobile TV — averaged more than 110,000 fans per minute to consume World Cup content from June 11 to July 11.

On ESPN3.com, the online video network, matches were viewed by 7.4 million unique viewers and in total, that generated 942 million minutes of viewing.

The Spain-Germany semi-final match was viewed by 355,000 people per minute during the live match, making it the site's largest average audience ever.

On ESPN.com, 128 million visits and 431 million page views were generated. There were also 54 million video starts from World Cup highlights, news and analysis.

And on ESPN Mobile TV, 1 million unique viewers were reached, registering 93 million total minutes of viewing.

ESPN's other mobile platforms generated 98 million visits and 520 million page views to World Cup content.
