Bill Plaschke and T.J. Simers each pen columns about the city's potential new team
Now that Farmer's Field has been approved — that is the name of the prospective Los Angeles football stadium — everyone is posting their choices for the city's next team.
Granted, what they wrote may be less surprising than that the section still has two paid columnists, but both are worth a read.
Simers went on about the San Diego Chargers and their quarterback Phillip Rivers.
The folks in San Diego have yet to grasp it, but it's going to happen," Simers wrotes. "If Tim Leiweke has everything in order and can put a shovel in the ground next May to begin building a new stadium, then he's going to need a signed lease from the team moving here."
As for Plaschke, he wants no part of the rabble-rousing Oakland Raiders.
"Hey, Oakland Raiders, if you are reading this, can you heed but one word from one man who was among many who celebrated in the summer of 1995 when you finally dragged your hack-and-silver act out of town?
"Don't. Don't come back. Don't even think about coming back. Don't."
Of course, all of this is premature to say the least. For all those who have been waiting for an LA football team, there is only one healthy state of mind — I'll believe it when I see it.
