It only took one day for Verizon Wireless to back away from its controversial $2 "convenience fee."
The company scrapped the plan on Friday after customers complained and the Federal Communications Commission said it would look into the move.
"Verizon Wireless has decided it will not institute the fee for online or telephone single payments that was announced earlier this week,” a statement on its website read. “The company made the decision in response to customer feedback about the plan, which was designed to improve the efficiency of those transactions.”

Verizon said Thursday that it would charge its customers $2 to pay their bills online or on their mobile phones.
Consumers immediately expressed outrage and the FCC soon indicated its intent.
“At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers,” Dan Mead, President and CEO of Verizon, said in a statement. “Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time.”
