Hollywood Rule No. 1: Anytime gold is handed over on a big stage, there has to be an after-party.

Team USA learned this the easy way this weekend at the conclusion of the London Olympic games.

Hollywood’s hospitality dream-team popped up in London over the weekend to shepherd Olympians-turned-stars through their first red carpet nights out at Club Bud, a two-night party venue of imported U.S. nightlife brands TAO and Marquee.

New “faces” like Lolo Jones and men’s gymnasts Sam Mikulak and John Orozco  (from the left) mixed with “Dancing with the Stars”-level names like Hope Solo and Justin Gatlin, and top-tier limelight...

Lynch presided over Carrie Fisher, Ellen Barkin, Wayne Brady, Katey Sagal, Seth Green, producer Jeff Ross, fellow roast regular Gilbert Gottfried and comics Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer as they skewered the plus-size 90’s sitcom queen in a two hour special taped at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday night.

Here’s what you won’t be seeing on air when “Comedy Central’s Roast of Roseanne” premieres next Sunday night, August 12.

On Saturday night, "So You Think You Can Dance" producer Nigel Lythgoe appeared to give a sarcastic review of compatriot Danny Boyle’s mixed-bag London Olympics opening ceremony:

“We all lovvvved that,” he said, drawing laughter from dinner VIPs, following his Dizzy Feet Foundation’s Celebration of Dance Gala.

The remarks came while thanking two Brits -- his partners in a new dance show on the Ovation network -- for choosing his L.A. fund-raising show and party over the opening ceremonies back home.

Known for his sincerity, Lythgoe wears his projects on his sleeves ... and his wheels. He tweets under the name “@DizzyFeet” and sports a vanity plate on his Bentley convertible trumpeting his Fox summer mainstay, “SYTYCD."

PBS’ Rebecca Eaton knows the first rule of politics: timing is everything.

The "Masterpiece Theatre" executive producer, who helped bring "Downton Abbey" to the airwaves, specifically chose last Thursday morning to make the pilgrimage from Boston to Washington D.C. to pitch PBS for future funding.

“The pilot told me to shut off my phone. We had one nomination when I got on the plane and 37 nominations when I got off,” Eaton told TheWrap at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday night.

“It was not a coincidence that we booked this

Not every talent was riding the star-shuttle “Patron Train” to San Diego this weekend, where actress Christian Serratos was still talking “Lost” while riding the rails, 26 months after its sign-off.

At left, Wired’s Howard Mittman, John C. Reilly, and Sarah Silverman geek out, as Anna Kendrick, Joe Manganiello, and Kristin Bauer van Straten huddle up at the Wired Café in San Diego (top left).

After Thursday’s “Expendables 2” panel went head-to-head with “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II,” Arnold Schwarzenegger escaped from the 619 and was back in L.A. at Bagatelle by...

Party Report: Sean Penn Is Surprisingly Jolly

July, 02, 2012 11:30 am | Comments On #Ariel Winter, BET Awards, BET Parties, Celebrity Parties, Ellie Kemper, Hollywood parties, Jenna Dewan, John Corbett, Just Jared, Rande Gerber, sean penn, Selita Ebanks, Wayne Rooney

In honor of the Fourth of July holiday, Sean Penn declared his independence from simmering gravitas at Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford’s Malibu clubhouse.

True to the vacation vibe of the week, the 7:30 P.M. party at Gerber's Café Habana was still hopping as the 2:00 a.m. closing time approached early Friday morning.

Give John Corbett part of the credit. The actor (center, with Lisa Rinna and Fran Drescher) put on his dancing shoes for the DJ’s spin of “PYT”.

Penn, a Malibu regular, rolled with an eclectic posse, holding down prime central real estate in a guy huddle with Rick Rubin (top right) and former NHL...

“Celeste and Jesse Forever” had a high “Q-Score” at Sundance, where writer/star Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, Emma Roberts, Elijah Wood, and Ari Graynor were ushered into all-they-can smile buffet of cast dinners, after-parties, and portraits.

On Thursday night at the L.A. Film Festival premiere, the big Q was Rashida’s dad, Quincy Jones.

“My parents are here,” Rashida Jones deflected, as an attendee pressed her for more details about an intimate scene gone awkward in a suite at the Chateau Marmont.

Indeed they were, as Quincy not only had two security guards shading his table at the intimate Russian Standard after-party, but also provided the VIP “lap....

Meryl Streep Scolds Hollywood Studios for 'Big Tentpole Failures'

June, 13, 2012 10:53 am | Comments On #carrie, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christina Applegate, Hollywood parties, Meryl Streep, Movies, red carpets, Viola Davis, Women in Film

The studio bean counters behind “Battleship” and “John Carter” should listen up:  Meryl Streep wants your job.

“In the last five years, five little movies aimed at women have brought in over 1.6 b-b-billion dollars at the worldwide box office,” the three-time Best Actress Oscar winner told a ballroom full of the most prominent women in the entertainment industry on Tuesday night.

“Five little movies -- 'The Help,' 'The Iron Lady' believe it or not, 'Bridesmaids,' 'Mamma Mia' and 'The Devil Wears Prada.'  And I will bet you that their profits were significant because they cost a fraction of what the big tentpole failures cost,” Streep said.

“So why why why (don’t studios make these)?” she continued to laughter.  “Don...
