Following Politico, which broke the news of Al and Tipper Gore’s split, CNN.com did what I thought Politico should’ve done: post the entire e-mail that the couple sent to friends announcing their separation. They even did it in handy PDF form.
One problem: While they blacked it out, CNN inadvertently left the pair’s e-mail address hyperlinked in the PDF for about two hours.
"Our intention was to keep the email address confidential," a CNN spokesperson told WebNewser. "CNN corrected the online post as soon as we discovered the error."
CNN has since replaced it with a text-only version.
