As Daniel Radcliffe showed with his nude turn in "Equus," he's fearless. That's good, because he'll need all the moxie he can muster if he's going to pull off his next Broadway turn -- a starring role in the revival of the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
Sorry girls, Radcliffe will keep his clothes on this time, but his new stage role will require an awful lot of singing and dancing, two skills he's not exactly known for.
The "Harry Potter" will have some big shoes to fill as he makes his musical debut. Robert Morse won a Tony award in 1961 for his performance as J. Pierrepont Finch and Matthew Broderick also took home a Tony in the acclaimed 1995 revival. With a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert and music and lyrics by Broadway great Frank Loesser ("Guys and Dolls"), Radcliffe will have plenty of great material to work with -- provided he can hit the notes.
The original production won seven Tony awards including best musical and ran for 1,417 performances.
This new production is currently scheduled to hit the "Great White Way" in the spring of 2011, its producers announced on Thursday. Tony winner Rob Ashford, who is currently overseeing a revival of "Promises, Promises" with Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes, will direct and choreograph the show. Broadway Across America, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce.
