Ratings: 'American Idol' Gives Fox the Win; 'Suburgatory' Finale Sinks

ABC’s new comedy, “How to Live With Your Parents,” falls 20 percent

"American Idol" rose slightly to lead Fox to a win in the demo and total viewers Wednesday as ABC’s "Suburgatory" and the new "How to Live With Your Parents" slipped, according to preliminary numbers.

Fox, which ran “American Idol” throughout its primetime slot, drew first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo with a 3.3 rating/9 share, and in total viewers with 12.4 million. It was up 3 percent in the key demo.

CBS came in second in ratings and total viewers with 1.8/5 and 7.7 million. “Survivor: Cameroon” was the only new episode in CBS’ primetime, earning 2.6/8 and 9.8 million total viewers. It was followed by repeats.

ABC was third place in the demo and total viewers with a 1.5/4 and 4.8 million. At 8, the first half of the one-hour season finale of "Suburgatory" earned a 1.5/5 in the demo and 5.4 million total viewers. The second half hour saw a slight increase earning a 1.7/5 and 5.5 million viewers. The half-hours were down 17 percent and 6 percent from last week.

A "Modern Family" rerun followed at 9. At 9:30, the third episode of the new “How to Live With Your Parents,” fell 20 percent in the demo from last week to a 2.0/5 and had 6 million total viewers. A "Nashville" repeat followed.

Airing only "Dateline" and repeats, NBC took the fourth place in ratings and total viewers earning a 1.1/3 and 4.4 million. “Dateline” at 8 had a 1.2/4 and 5.1 million total viewers.
