Ratings: 'The Following' Up in Finale, But Declining 'Voice' Wins Night for NBC

"Rules of Engagement" jumps 25 percent in key demo

Fox's freshman drama "The Following" posted a week-to-week ratings gain with its finale on Monday night as a weakened "The Voice" took the night's top ratings and gave NBC a win in the key demographic. Meanwhile, CBS's "Rules of Engagement" enjoyed a 25 percent ratings boost, according to preliminary numbers.

The "Following" finale, on Fox at 9 p.m., drew a 2.1 rating/6 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demo — an 8 percent boost over last week — and drew 7.8 million total viewers, an 11 percent increase over last week. Still, those numbers were down from the 3.2/7 and 10.4 million total viewers that the series' January premiere drew in final numbers.

NBC took first place in ratings with a 3.4/9 and second in total viewers with 10.2 million."The Voice" at 8 grabbed the night's best demo performance despite a 16 percent drop from last week, posting a 4.1/11 — tying this cycle's low — and taking 12.5 million total viewers. "Revolution" at 10 drew even with last week to tie a series low of 2.0/5. It had 10.6 million total viewers.

Fox took second place in ratings with a 2.3/6 and third in total viewers with 7.4 million. Aside from the "Following" finale, the network ran the season finale of "Bones" at 8, which also enjoyed a boost from last week, posting a 2.1/6 compared to last week's 1.9/6, and drew 7.1 million total viewers.

CBS was third in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 2.1/6 and 7.3 million. "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 was even with its last original on April 15, tying a season low of 2.7/8, and took 6.9 million total viewers. "Rules of Engagement" at 8:30 jumped 25 percent from last week for a 2.0/6 and had 6 million total viewers. "2 Broke Girls" at 9 inched up to a 2.5/6 with 7.9 million total viewers, while "Mike and Molly" at 9:30 was also up slightly, taking a 2.3/6 with 7.9 million total viewers. "Hawaii Five-0" dipped to a 1.7/5 and drew 7.7 million total viewers.

ABC was fourth in ratings but first in total viewers with a 2.0/6 and 12.4 million. "Dancing With the Stars" at 8 inched down to a 2.0/6 — the series' lowest rating for a performance show — but was the night's most-watched program with 13.3 million total viewers. "Castle" at 10 slid 13 percent for a 2.0/5 and took 10.6 million total viewers.

    On the voice the first two rounds are the best of any reality talent show. Then I stop watching once the battle rounds are over as the show get boring.
