Meghan McCain in Playboy: GOP Race ‘Has Been so Lame’

Meghan McCain, who could have been the first daughter dishes in Playboy on Bristol Palin, lesbianism and Hunter S. Thompson

There's been plenty of talk about how had John McCain won the 2008 presidential election, we would have a lightning rod vice-president in Sarah Palin.

We might have had quite a first daughter, too. Meghan McCain, the 27-year-old daughter of the veteran Arizona Republican, appears in the April edition of Playboy magazine and sounds off on number of issues.

"You would have the craziest first daughter ever, who'd be making ridiculous headlines and hurting the administration every step of the way," McCain told Playboy. Any doubts she meant it were cleared up when she dished to the men's mag on everything from Briston Palin and the state of the GOP to shotguns.

>> On the shot Bristol Palin's took at the her in the book "Not Afraid Of Life: My Journey So Far," which cited the McCain women's "Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup": "I saw her across the room. That girl biffed it fast, totally took off. All that stuff she wrote was a total lie. I have, like, one Louis Vuitton purse. She's just young and confused and was thrust into all this. The media aren't kind to her. But once someone signs up for Dancing With the Stars, it's hard to sympathize."

>> On the possibility of appearing in a TV reality show: "Never! Hell would freeze over before I would do a reality show. You certainly won't see me dancing on TV. I'm the worst. I have, like, two moves–the hair flip and the shoulder move and that's it, baby."

">> On the Republican race, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich:  "It's just been so lame," she said. "You'd think someone would rise up and tap the frustration and energy of the Occupy movement or the Tea Party, but it just hasn't happened yet."

>> In response to a question asking her to clarify a comment about hanging out in bed with her girlfriends to cope with her father's 2008 loss:  "I'm not a lesbian, if that's what you're asking," she said. "I've been hit on by women from time to time, and it might simplify my life if I were gay, but no," she said.

>> On Hunter S. Thompson and his love for whiskey and fire arms: "I appreciate both those things. We would have understood each other.

>> On politics as first-date fodder:  "I'm obsessed with this stuff, but it doesn't put me in the mood."
